Under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav Cultural Committee and NSS Unit of GDC Nagrota celebrated International Women’s Day with this year’s designated theme ‘Invest in Women:Accelerate Progress’ .The program commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Shalini Raina Department of Political Science . She threw light on the theme ‘Invest in Women:Accelerate Progress and its changing dimensions in todays world..Prof.Sonika Sen from Department of Sociology enlightened the students on history and the present form of Women Empowerment . Speaking on the ocassion Prof.Dinesh Singh Chib from Department of Education threw light on the challenges women have to face in their daily lives. Students also expressed their views on women empowerment with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, the campaign theme for this year Inspire Inclusion’. A poster making competition and a symposium was also organised reflecting symbolical purple colour which signifies justice and dignity. All teaching staff members and students participated in the activities with a great zeal and enthusiasm. The whole programme was organised under the guidance and encouragement of Principal of the College Prof.Anjali Mahajan.
